I have lived in the western suburbs of Chicago my whole life, emphasis on SUBURBS. Not the South Side of Chicago, or in the heart of the meat packing district. Nope, just the 'burbs. So color me surprised when I met with my gals at BlogHer for the first time and they couldn't stop talking about my heavy accent. Even Pseudostoops, a local! had to agree. Pocklock was yearning for my voice while on a conference call, such is the deep impression I make.
All this got me thinking though, that our friendships online are heavily based on the written word, and unless we get chummy and exchange phone numbers or do a vlog here and there, we really don't get to hear each other's voices. It's a shame really, as we are scattered across the country where accents run free. I mean, Sarah is in Alabama so she's got to have a southern accent right? And what about Matthew in Southern California? I actually did speak to him on the phone before I met him in person and to me, he TOTALLY sounds like a surfer dude. (Hang ten, bro.)
I have decided to steal this idea from AndreaAnna and ask you, my lovelies, to write in the comments what words you want me to say. I will then compile a list and vlog me speaking them at which point you all can weigh in on my Chicago-ness. Do I really have a nasal 'ayyyy' sound when I say "backpack?" Do I. . .do I sound like these guys?
So hit me up in the comments and we'll settle this once and for all.
