Firsts for The Boy

This weekend marked the first:

. . .trip across state lines.

. . .stay in a hotel room.

. . .swim in a grown-up pool.

. . .visit with Grandpa.

. . .'meal' at a truckstop.

. . .6 hour car ride.

. . .poopy diaper change on the trunk of our car in a Mobile parking lot.  (Um ,yeah.  Sorry son.)

Random, I know

Bryan asked me the other day if I could have anything I wanted what would it be.  And before I could answer he quickly clarified that it couldn't have anything to do with bills, debt or saving the world.  Just me.  Totally selfish.

I thought for a little while and said, "A spa weekend with Kristin.  Hotel stay, yoga, mani/pedi, facial, massage, crazy exfoliation treatments, seaweed wraps--the whole nine yards.  THAT is what I'd want. . . .well, and a whole new wardrobe so if I could get BOTH that would be great."

So this got me to thinking.  What would YOU want?  Don't think of anyone but yourself and the sky is the limit.  Ready, GO!

Exhale

If you heard a huge sigh this morning and didn't know where it came from, it was me.  In a hotel suite in Wisconsin.  That has cable.  Wi-Fi.  A jacuzzi.  A king bed.  And free Aveda bath products.

Oh Lord it is Heaven.

We're up visiting Bryan's dad who has never met the baby, so we're having a good time.  This has been Theo's first trip across state lines, his first stay in a hotel room, and the first time he's been swimming in a pool.  He handled the five-ish hour car trip wonderfully and is sleeping quite well, considering he's in a totally new place with TONS to look at.  We're all relaxed.  We're all happy.  And boy oh boy is that just wonderful.

365 days

A year ago today I found out I was pregnant.  It still blows my mind.  And from August 8th to March 3rd, I was never alone.

Hey, we were about due anyway

Any of you remember this trauma from last year?  Yeah, that was fun.  And apparently moving to another apartment does not give us a free pass from such pleasures because it happened again.  But to up the ante a bit, it was the baby's room that flooded this time!  Along with our room as well!  So now we have carpet and padding ripped up in each bedroom with industrial fans blowing to dry everything out.  Furniture is moved.  Things are all over the place.  It's a party all up in here is what I'm saying.

But Theo, he is a resiliant one.  Last night he slept longer than he has ever slept in one stretch.  I guess he likes the humid tropical atmosphere or something because really, that's just odd.

So yes.  We're at it again.  Wheee!

ALIVE!

Hi folks.  Sorry for the abandonment--things have been tough around these here parts lately.  But I'm better, aside from a few poorly-timed coughing fits while I'm laying the sleeping baby down to bed.  Theo has also managed to stay healthy thank goodness.  No fever, no snuffly nose, no coughing.  Yeah!

I have had so many posts running around in my head, and of course they were all perfectly worded, witty and the epitome of perfection.  Am I able to write them now?  Of COURSE not!  I can't remember them because it's not 3:43 in the morning when I'm usually wide awake.  So maybe later.  I know, you're all waiting with baited breath. 

A few Theo updates: 

No rolling over yet, though we are SO CLOSE!  I really hope he does it before I go back to work on Tuesday, otherwise I will have to tell daycare that he's not allowed to lay down AT ALL the rest of the week.  He must be held at all times, so as not to encourage rolling over when mommy is not around.  Yes, I'm selfish like that.

He is FIVE MONTHS OLD TODAY OMG.

Also, he slept for 11.5 hours last night and though he has done that once before a month ago, I really hope this will continue to be a trend.  He's overall a very good sleeper, going down like clockwork between 5:30 and 6:00 every night, and then only waking once or twice between 2-4 am.  So I really shouldn't complain.  But once I've tasted the sweet sweet victory of an all-night sleep, it's hard to go back.

And finally,Theo is officially a Big Boy now because he can pretty much hold a bottle on his own (as long as it's not 100% full, then it's too heavy).  I have a feeling I will be hearing a lot of "I DO MYSEF MOMMY!" in the future because this kid already gets frustrated when he can't master something right away.  Oy.  Can't imagine where he gets that from.
